Adolescents are an integral part of Florida’s communities bringing energy, innovation, and strength to our state. The transition from childhood to adulthood is an important phase bringing challenges to navigate and milestones to celebrate.
Adolescence includes physical, mental, emotional, and social developments that require intentional support. Changes that occur between the ages of 10-25 happen rapidly. Youth are developing new brain patterns, social boundaries, and emotional resilience that can prepare them for adulthood.
Dental Health
Healthy teeth are essential to eat, speak, and grow properly. For most people, all permanent teeth are in the mouth by age 12, except for wisdom teeth, which can come in later (usually between ages 17-25).
Substance Use Prevention
Florida is focusing on supporting students to ensure they receive prevention resources to protect and maintain their health, avoid substance misuse, and discourage risky behaviors.
