In Lesson 1 we will review the organizational structure of Early Steps and become familiar with the operational responsibilities of the Early Steps system from both a state and local perspective.

Lessons 1 and 2 also cover the federal and state requirements for the Early Steps system components of Public Awareness, Child Find, the Individualized Family Support Plan, and Service Coordination.

In Lesson 3 we will also have the opportunity to explore family-centered practices in the field of early intervention and clarify how our attitudes and beliefs influence our ability to work with families from diverse cultural backgrounds. Lesson 3 also presents information on Family Involvement, Procedural Safeguards, the Comprehensive System of Personnel Development and Training, and Data and Record Keeping. The Florida child abuse and neglect reporting procedures are discussed in Lesson 3.

I have lots of questions about the Early Steps system and you probably do too. I think this module will answer many of those questions, so let's get started.
