To facilitate the enhanced family-centered approach of Early Steps, the roles and responsibilities of service providers in working with families include:

Participating in team-based evaluation and assessment to determine eligibility for Early Steps and develop an Individualized Family Support Plan as appropriate
- Establishing a relationship with the family and caregivers to support the development of functional outcomes and integrate such outcomes within the childÕs daily life
- Coaching family members and caregivers in their implementation of strategies to support the child using everyday routines, activities, and places
- Consulting with other providers and representatives of appropriate community agencies utilizing a transdisciplinary team approach
