What is the purpose of the IFSP?

The IFSP guides and documents the early intervention process for children and their families in Early Steps. It is the vehicle through which effective early intervention is implemented in accordance with Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The IFSP also contains information about the formal and informal services and supports necessary to enhance the family's capacity to facilitate their child's development.
