Through funding from the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement and the Florida Department of Children and Families, the Refugee Health Program works to protect the public health of Florida. By coordinating closely with various organizations and health care providers, the program ensures that refugees receive health services that are necessary to protect individuals and communities.

The Refugee Health Program requires a complete health assessmentย to be conducted within 90 days of arrival/eligibility.ย In Florida, 31 out of 67 counties receive refugees for health services.

The program serves various groups of individuals, including refugees, asylees, Cuban/Haitian asylum applicants, Cuban/Haitian entrants, Amerasians, Iraqi/Afghan special immigrants, and victims of severe forms of human trafficking.ย
