The Florida Department of Health is providing an evidence-based webinar designed to strengthen how health care providers identify, prevent, and respond to fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) in clinical practice.
The training will assist providers in expanding their clinical understanding of FASD, improve the use of validated screening tools such as the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), apply effective brief intervention strategies, and strengthen referral pathways to developmental, behavioral health, and community-based resources. Participants will also learn practical approaches for discussing prenatal alcohol exposure using nonjudgmental, stigma-free communication techniques that support patient engagement and early intervention.
In addition, attendees will receive information about Florida Department of Health resources, including prenatal support services, low- to no-cost health care options, substance use disorder treatment and recovery programs, and statewide referral resources available to pregnant women and families.
