The Public Health Dental Program collects and analyzes statewide and county data on the oral health status and access to dental services of Florida’s residents.

During 2023-24, 20.7% of Florida’s 9th graders had untreated decay, and 29.2% had dental sealants.

  • 31.6% indicated they drank soda or juice one to two times per day in the past seven days
  • 34.4% said they drank soda three to five times per day
  • 5.8% had missed one to two days school days for dental related problems in the past 12 months

In 2021-22, 29.3% of Florida’s third graders had untreated decay, and 36.9% had dental sealants.

  • 43.9% indicated they drank no soda in the past 30 days
  • 41.4% said they drank soda one to two times per day
  • 65.0% said they one to two sugar sweetened beverages each day

Dental Workforce Reports

Since 2009, the Public Health Dental Program has developed a biennial workforce survey for Florida’s dentists and dental hygienists to obtain information concerning the dental workforce and its changing landscape which would better inform health care policymakers and shape oral health care policy.
