Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System

Statewide survey is designed to collect data on individual health-related risk behaviors and preventive health practices related to the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the U.S.

Birth Defects Registry and Surveillance

Demographic, clinical, maternal and child health information is combined for analysis and reporting on the occurrence of birth defects.ย 

Cancer Registry

Largest population-based, cancer incidence registry in the nation, registering over 150,000 cases annually, with approximately 2.3 million cancer records reported.

Childhood Vaccination Rates

Utilizing a variety of data sources to estimate vaccination in Florida, including Floridaโ€™s statewide immunization registry, Florida SHOTS, and annual vaccination surveys.

Disease Surveillance

Assesses and monitor population health status, factors that influence health, and community needs.ย 

Drug Overdose Surveillance

Quarterly report summarizing raw overdose data from licensed emergency medical services, along with a statewide dashboard of trends.

Emergency Medical Services

Facilitates statewide data collection, analysis, surveillance, and reporting of EMS data, including the Emergency Medical Services Tracking and Reporting Systemย that collects incident records.

Environmental Public Health Inspections

Provides inspections reports on regulated entities, including biomedical waste, tattoo and body piercing, food service, group care, mobile home parks, public pools, and tanning.

Fetal and Infant Mortality Review

Examination and trend analysis of fetal and infant deaths to help understand root causes and factors that impact child outcomes.

Injury Surveillance System

Monitor frequency of fatal and non-fatal injuries, risk factors, and the completeness and quality of data sources, to provide information to Floridaโ€™s injury prevention community.

Morbidity Statistics

Based on reportable disease information received by physicians, hospitals, and laboratories throughout the state, obtained through passive and active surveillance.

Occupational Health and Safety

Causes of work-related injuries, illnesses, deaths, and the reduction of risk factors.

Oral Health

Conducts several basic screening surveys to monitor oral health status, risk factors, and access to dental services

Pregnancy Risk Assessment

Approximately 200 mothers who have given birth in Florida within the last 6 months are randomly selected to complete a survey.

Prescription Drug Monitoring

Collects dispensing information for controlled substances listed in schedules II, III, IV, and V, and provides the information to health care practitioners to assist in clinical decision-making.

Public Health Research

Oversees biomedical research programs, administers research grant applications, provides research consultations, technical assistance, and oversees the Institutional Review Board and Human Research Protection Program.
