December 1st is Global World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day December 1st
World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. Testing and Counseling
Oversees Florida’s HIV counseling and testing programs, including the Expanded Testing Initiative (ETI) and Social Network Strategies (SNS). Maintains the Counseling, Testing, and Referral (CTR) sites database, 500/501 counselor training, and other CTR resources.
Client centered linkage to care and treatment for those who are HIV+. The programs include the Corrections Program, Minority AIDS Initiative (MAI), and Targeted Outreach for Pregnant Women Act (TOPWA).
Assistance with HIV/AIDS prevention interventions for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), high-risk negative persons and American Indian populations. Assesses community need and coordinates intervention and capacity building trainings, condom distribution, outreach, and maintains the educational materials database, and provides information on PrEP
The Community Engagement Team works to support HIV prevention through media campaigns, the HIV/AIDS hotline, Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) for health departments and community-based organizations (CBOs), various statewide mobilization initiatives, and community planning.
