During 2023-2024, 20.7% of Florida’s ninth graders had untreated decay, and 29.2% had dental sealants.

  • In addition, 31.6% indicated they drank soda or juice one to two times per day in the past seven days, 34.4% said they drank soda three to five times per day, and 5.8% had missed one to two days school days for dental related problems in the past 12 months.

In 2021-2022, 29.3% of Florida’s third graders had untreated decay, and 36.9% had dental sealants.

  • Of the third graders, 43.9% indicated they drank no soda in the past 30 days, 41.4% said they drank soda one to two times per day, and 65.0% said they one to two sugar sweetened beverages each day.

Since 2009, thePublic Health Dental Program has developed a biennial workforce survey for Florida's dentists and dental hygienists to obtain information concerning the dental workforce and its changing landscape which would better inform health care policymakers and shape oral healthcare policy development.

Florida Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System collects information on the oral health care of women before, during, and after pregnancy.

Florida Cancer Data System is Florida's statewide cancer registry that collects cancer incidence data including oral cancer.

National Cancer Institute generates oral cancer statistics by many factors.

State Cancer Profiles contains oral cancer statistics by county and health service area. 

Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors contains many resources on oral health data and surveillance.

Oral Health Data contains state level data for select indicators from the National Oral Health Surveillance System.

Health Resources and Services Administration has data on federally qualified health centers as well as dental health provider shortage areas.

National Health Interview Survey has national data on dental care access and coverage.

National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey contains national and statewide data on many oral health indicators including dental care access and dental conditions.
