Today, the Florida Department of Health celebrates the start of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2026, recognizing the contributions of Florida’s nurses.

“Bread is a staple food for many Florida families, and they should be able to consume it without worrying about toxins,” said State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo.

Governor Ron DeSantis, First Lady Casey DeSantis, and Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo announced new food safety findings under the Healthy Florida First initiative, with the release of candy product testing results conducted by the Florida Department of Health to provide greater transparency for Florida families and strengthen accountability for products marketed to children.

“As a mother, there is nothing more important than protecting our children, and that starts with being able to trust what is in their food,” said First Lady Casey DeSantis.

The Department delivered significant results statewide which improved lives, strengthened programs, and positioned Florida as a national leader in public health access, care, and innovation.

Governor Ron DeSantis announced his 2026-27 Floridians First Budget, which includes significant investments to introduce and enhance health care access and services for Florida’s communities.
