The Florida Department of Health is warning Floridians about the serious health risks associated with 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) and its derivatives, potent opioid-like compounds that are increasingly being marketed and sold throughout Florida.
Today, Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo, joined by Department of Elder Affairs Secretary Michelle Branham, announced the latest recipients of the Ed and Ethel Moore Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program grants. This year, more than $4.2 million is being invested to strengthen early detection, expand treatment options, and deepen the understanding of Alzheimer’s disease.
Today, the Florida Department of Health celebrates the start of National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2026, recognizing the contributions of Florida’s nurses.
