The Florida Coordinating Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing serves as an advisory and coordinating body that recommends policies that address the needs of Floridaโs deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened and deaf-blind community, in accordance with section 413.271, Florida Statutes.
The council is a resource for deaf and hard of hearing Floridians who need assistance with everyday needs including employment, education, and access to services.
The council is dedicated to assisting the nearly 3 million Floridians affected by hearing loss through providing technical assistance and resources to individuals, governmental agencies, private and public organizations.
The councilโs technical assistance allows both public and private entities to better and more efficiently serve individuals with hearing loss, along with their families.
Resources for Individuals and Families
Hearing loss, as with other medical conditions, is measured in types from mild to profound in severity. Each level of loss presents unique problems with communication.
