The Rare Disease Advisory Council was established inย section 381.99, Florida Statutes, to assist the Florida Department of Health in providing recommendations to improve health outcomes for individuals residing in the state who have a rare disease.

The Rare Disease Advisory Council was established inย section 381.99, Florida Statutes. The council is comprised of 22 members, serving 4 year terms. A total of 10ย members appointed by the Governor, sixย members appointed by the President of the Senate, and sixย members appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Beginning July 1, 2022, the Rare Disease Advisory Council will submit an annual report to the Governor and State Surgeon General which describes the activities of the advisory council throughout the year as well as its findings and recommendations regarding rare disease research and care.
