Prior to sitting for the examination, an applicant must complete pre-certification coursework for the chosen primary program area. It is recommended that an applicant not begin the pre-certification coursework until they receive notification from the Florida Department of Health that they have satisfied the eligiblity requirements.

Theย Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems Program (OSTDS)prerequisite coursework and examsย are provided through a week longย Accelerated Certification Training (ACT), provided at the Polk County training site of theย Florida Onsite Wastewater Associationย (FOWA).ย

The prerequisite coursework for the Food Protection Program is currently only available to FL Department of Health employees. The Food Protection Program prerequisite coursework is offered through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA).
Theseย FDA ORA coursesย are free to current government employees, with a verifiable active government email address. Applicants must register throughย FDA’s ORA LearnED Training websiteย to access required courses.
