Supply Ordering
Supplies may be requested from your servicing laboratory. Supplies ordered from the BPHL should only be used for specimen sent to the BPHL for testing.

Specimen Sources
Any clinically relevant sources: axilla/groin skin swabs, sputum, blood, tissue, bronchial wash, urine, lesions/wounds, etc.
Specimen Labeling
Specimen must be labeled with at least two unique patient identifiers, e.g., name and DOB. Information on the specimen must match the requisition and/or test order.Â
Special SPecimen Preparation
Duplicate samples collected within two months will not be tested.
Storage Conditions
If needed, specimen can be stored at 15-30° C for preferably up to 48 hours after growth.
Packaging and Shipping
Specimens should be shipped at 15-30° C on a nutrient agar slant preferably within 48 hours of growth. Paperwork should be included but separated from the specimen in case of leaks.

Qualitative: confirmation of Candida auris, Candida duobushaemulonii, Candida haemulonii
Indeterminate or Indeterminate due to equivocal – cannot tell if negative or positive OR invalid – did not return any result twice. All Indeterminates should submit a new sample and re-order test.Â
