Specimen must be labeled with at least two unique patient identifiers, e.g., name and DOB.

Specimen must be received at the lab within seven days of collection.
Storage Conditions
Store specimens at 2-8° C for a maximum of seven days, including the time for delivery to the laboratory
Packaging and Shipping
Specimens should be shipped on frozen ice packs at 2-8° C or frozen on dry ice at -20° C or lower. It the specimens were stored frozen, then they should be shipped frozen to avoid a freeze thaw cycle.
Ship within four days of collection.
Separate specimens into different bags to help prevent cross contamination.
Include paperwork with specimens but separate them physically by placing the paperwork in the outer pocket of the biohazard bag.

Interferences and Limitations
Do not use the antibody titer of a single serum specimen to determine recent infection.
Interpret a positive test for T. gondii IgG in Neonates with caution since passively acquired maternal antibody can persist up to six months.
