How to Become an Authorized WIC Vendor
The open enrollment period for WIC vendors is from February 1 – March 31 each year.
The open enrollment period is on a three-year cycle for the northern, central and southern regions with each region alternating in succession.
Applicants must have been in the grocery business for at least one year. For current WIC-authorized vendors, the WIC vendor agreement does not constitute a license or a property interest. If a current WIC-authorized vendor in the region wishes to continue to be authorized beyond the period of its current agreement, the vendor must reapply for authorization.
Applicants new to WIC will be asked to provide their competitive prices for WIC products. All applicant vendor prices will be evaluated and only those stores offering prices competitive within their peer group will be accepted to participate as a WIC vendor.
Any store interested in becoming a WIC-authorized vendor or renewing their participation, subject to vendor requirements, must apply during the enrollment period. A background screening will be completed on applications received.
