Blue-Green Algae Health Notifications

• Health Caution is issued when DEP sampling results show a bloom has been visually detected and/or when results indicate the dominant algal species to be cyanobacteria.
• Health Alert is issued when cyanotoxin is present.
• Health Alert is lifted once toxins are not detected according to analyses obtained from resampling of the bloom or if 30 days have elapsed since the last sampling date.

Red Tide Health Notifications

• Health Caution is issued when Karenia brevis cell counts are between 10,000-100,000 cells per liter.
• Health Alert is issued when Karenia brevis cell counts are greater than 100,000 cells per liter.
• Health Alert is lifted when Karenia brevis cell counts have dropped below 100,000 cells per liter threshold.
